LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The University of Kentucky men's basketball team's loss against Michigan State Tuesday night apparently was an unintentional win for the creators of the new Wildcats-themed website 40and0.com.

More than 20,000 people visited 40and0.com, a site that sells t-shirts touting UK's quest for a 40-0 season, in the first 48 hours after the team's bid for the record came to an end 38 victories short. Most of the people buying the shirts appear to be fans of opposing teams mocking Kentucky's failed quest for perfection. Wildcats fan David Son, who founded the site, told Yahoo! Sports an unusually high number of purchases have been made from residents of Louisville, Michigan, Kansas and North Carolina, suggesting the t-shirts are being shipped to rival fans who want to poke fun at Kentucky's misfortune.

On Thursday, the following message was posted on 40and0.com's Facebook page: "Negative press or positive press, we've seen over 20,000 visitors over the last two days, and we're STILL selling shirts!! ...this is a mystery even to us! Are the MSU fans going to have a 40-0 bon fire? Or is the #BBN stocking up for next year?"

Son said the idea to create the site and the t-shirts came after he heard UK head coach John Calipari mention his desire to shoot for a 40-0 season. Son told Yahoo! Sports he hoped to make enough money off the t-shirts to pay for a trip to Dallas in April to attend the Final Four.

Now, Son says he's considering having another batch of "40-0" t-shirts printed to meet the demand from non-UK fans. He also plans to begin selling "See You in Dallas" shirts and change the site to SeeYouInDallas.com.
