Evansville's Christmas tree goes up next week

Posted: Updated:

The Christmas season is quickly approaching and the City of Evansville is ready.

The city says Mayor Lloyd Winnecke will welcome the start of the holiday season with the lighting of a Christmas tree in front of the Civic Center on Wednesday, November 20, at 4:45 p.m.

The Signature Singers from Evansville's Signature School will perform a few holiday songs and Mayor Winnecke will offer a few remarks before the tree is lit.

The city says Florence Murphy is donating a Blue Spruce, approximately 18-feet-tall for the holiday display.

The Christmas tree will be on display in front of the Civic Center building through the holiday season and will be removed sometime after January 1, 2014.
