Winter arrives early
Temperatures will begin to nose dive this morning as an arctic air mass plows into the area. A few snow showers will mix with some light rain early this morning.. We're not expecting any travel impacts from this first "snow", since ground temps are still warm and we don't have much moisture to work with in the atmosphere. Byron has the 14 First Alert forecast.
This early taste of winter is not expected to impact travel, but with a near record low expected tonight, we'll be out checking roadways. Nicole will be in "Live Drive" and Emily will be monitoring conditions in western Kentucky.
Many Philippine typhoon survivors figure the best thing to do is leave, but a way out is proving difficult to find. Thousands swarmed the airport in Tacloban today, but only a few hundred got to fly out. Authorities estimate the storm killed 10,000 people or more. The confirmed death toll is 1,744 and damage is extensive.
