Authorities in Daviess County say they have investigated two shootings in just two days.

The most recent happened at a home on Highway 56 just before 3:00 Sunday morning.

Authorities say 21-old-year William Bell is being charged with assault and wanton endangerment for shooting 19-year-old Chad Winter in the chest.

Bill Thompson, a captain from the Daviess County Sheriff's Office says it was all over a girl. Thompson says deputies were on their way to the scene when they caught up with Bell.

We're told Bell had gone to his ex-girlfriend's house to confront Winter, her new boyfriend. Thompson says Bell shot Winter once in the chest and then left in his car.  Bell crashed his vehicle while trying to escape from deputies and that's when he was arrested.

"We were able to recover the weapon. The weapon that was used in the shooting was in the suspect's vehicle. At this point the investigation is basically over," Thompson said.

Authorities say Bell is in the Daviess County Detention Center and Winter is at the Owensboro Health Regional Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
