Volunteers help beautify Sunset Park

Volunteers spent time at Sunset Park Sunday afternoon planting flowers and adding mulch.

They planted more than 1,500 Tulip bulbs of all different colors. It's part of Evansville resident Norb Niemeier's idea to make Evansville more beautiful.

Niemeier and Mayor Lloyd Winnecke first talked about doing it during a spring trip to Amsterdam and sister city, Osterburg.

Niemeier says he is paying for the project himself, but has gotten donations from other people in the city.

They expect the tulips will start to bloom in April.
