Volunteers from two Evansville churches helped give away 44,000 pounds of potatoes on Saturday.
Officials say it was the 4th annual Potato Drop. It is an event that provides food pantries and anyone else in need with free sacks of potatoes.
The potatoes came from a farm in Wisconsin.
A volunteer said the men's group at the Old North United Methodist Church prepares all year the event.
"We know that times for a lot of families are tough and people need the extra help and it's an opportunity for us to help out," said Bruce Wright.
He said planning for the following year's Potato Drop will start in December.
