Whitesville shooting suspect arrested, charged with attempted murder

Kentucky State Police troopers and Daviess County Sheriff's deputies are investigating a double shooting that happened in Whitesville, Kentucky.

Sheriff's officials said a male and female were both shot twice in the 10000 block of Kentucky 764 in Whitesville around 7:00 Friday night.

When deputies first arrived, they said they found a male laying on the floor with two gunshot wounds to the stomach.

Deputies and troopers searched the house and found a female in a closet in a bedroom with gunshot wounds to the chest and back.

A toddler was found in the female victim's car that was parked in the garage. The toddler is safe with the grandmother.

The woman told authorities Christopher Matthew Johnson shot them.

Soon after deputies received a call of Johnson's location on Old Highway 54. When officials arrived on scene, they said they found him in the woods. He was arrested without incident.

Johnson will be charged with two counts of attempted murder. university of louisville 

Both victims were taken to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. The male victim was eventually airlifted to a hospital in Louisville. The female victim underwent surgery shortly after being taken to the hospital.

At this time, the motive behind the shooting is not known, or if the victims knew Johnson.
