Crash kills 1 on highway; police seek help in identifying victim

CROMWELL, CT (WFSB) -

One person was killed during an early morning crash after a vehicle struck a pedestrian on Interstate 91 Saturday.

According to police, troopers received several reports from witnesses who said the victim may have been struck by a larger truck traveling in the center lane of I-91 north. Police said the accident occurred three-quarters of a mile south of exit 21. 

Investigators are attempting to identify the victim, who is being described as a stocky white male wearing dark jeans and jean jacket. All police agencies in the surrounding area have been notified of the accident in an effort to identify the victim

Anyone who may have been traveling on the highway in the area between 2 and 3 a.m. who may have seen the accident or a pedestrian near the highway is asked to call State Police Troop H at 860-534-1000.

one car was involved in the crash, which occurred at about 3:10 a.m. Police have all three lanes closed near exit 21 northbound. Traffic can get by on the right shoulder.
