Canadian high pressure is in control of our weekend weather keeping us cool but dry. This morning Asheville dropped to 25 degrees breaking the previous record low of 26 degrees and the Greenville-Spartanburg Airport was only one degree shy of a record low at 29 degrees. Thankfully, the remainder of the weekend will not be as cold due to the high sliding east of the area and our airflow becoming southwesterly which is milder. Also overnight we will have more clouds which act as a blanket keeping some of the daytime heat closer to the surface.
As the end of October approaches, we are seeing some more color on the trees in the Upstate but we are still a few weeks away from peak color here. In the Mountains above 5,000 feet most areas are at peak and in the lower mountainous regions color is really starting to pop. These areas should peak in the next week or so. You can find out more about this weeks foliage from The Foliage Report web site.
