Daviess County starts new program to help college recruiting

Posted: Updated:

There is a new program in Daviess County that may revolutionize college recruiting.

The Foundation for Daviess County School system and Murray University have teamed up to start a 'Kids on Campus' program.

Students will be able to take a bus, tour the campus, and can even sit in on a college class.

Their primary emphasis is on first generation college students.

These are students who do not have a parent with a four year college degree.

"Most juniors and seniors are uncomfortable with the idea of going away from their comfort zone, get them on campus, once they see campuses, they realize hey this place is a good place," said the Director of Foundation for Daviess County Schools, Vicki Quisenberry.

Daviess County, Apollo and Beacon High Schools will all participate. The program will start on November 13 when the first round of students go on a college visit.
