HOPEWELL, VA (WWBT) -

Hopewell police have released a photo of a person of interest in a grocery store armed robbery Wednesday afternoon.

Police say the man entered the City Point Foodland off of City Point Road after 4:30 p.m., pulled out a handgun and demanded money. The man even fired the gun once into a store shelf when the clerk had trouble opening the cash register. Police say the suspect took off with an undisclosed amount of money. No one was injured.

The man is described as a light complexion black male with a slender build, between 20-26 years old. Police say he is around  5'07"-5'10", 170-180 pounds. He is described as wearing dark colored pants, a black hooded sweatshirt that was covering the lower portion of his face, and displaying a silver in color handgun.

Police released a photo of a man they are calling a person of interest, whom they would like to interview about the robbery.
