LEXINGTON, KY (WAVE) - Jockey Calvin Borel, a three-time Kentucky Derby winner, was rushed to a Lexington hospital Wednesday after suffering a nasty fall from a horse during a race at Keeneland.
According to news release from the track, Borel fell from Sonic Dancer shortly after the start of the day's sixth race.
"He was stable, somewhat alert and suffering the effects of a sports concussion," said Keeneland Medical Director Dr. Barry Schumer. "He was complaining of pain in his left leg but he was able to move it."
Borel was transported to University of Kentucky Medical Center for evaluation.
Borel rode Derby horses Street Sense, Mine That Bird and Super Saver to victory in 2007, 2009 and 2010 respectively.
