An Evansville teen has died and two others injured after an early morning single-vehicle accident on the east side.

Officials say 18-year-old Parker Hertel and two friends were driving on Fickas Road around 2:00 a.m. and were heading toward Green River Road.

Parker, who was driving, lost control while making a turn. That's when the car struck a nearby utility pole.

One passenger, 19-year-old Abby Schaffer, was not injured.

The other passenger, 17-year-old Drew Ellis, was taken to the hospital with injuries. There is no word on his condition.

Parker, who was a Harrison High School student, was taken to St. Mary's and later died of internal injuries.

Witnesses say the car was traveling at a high speed when it came around the corner.

14 News spoke with one of Parker's co-workers from Bob Evans, who says Parker was funny, always smiling, and a guy people will never forget.

"He's going to be in our hearts forever," said Jon Nurrenbern. "We're all going to miss him dearly. We all love you, Parker. We're going to miss you bro."

A woman, who lives near the scene, say that carloads of teenagers have stopped by the scene of the accident to pay tribute to Parker.
