OMAHA, NE (KETV/CNN) – An Army major back from Afghanistan surprised his family at Disney World for a beautiful reunion at the happiest place in the world.
Sitting in the Hurtt Family living room and anyone can see a lifetime of memories, but none of them are quite as special as their reunion caught on video.
"It was as much of a surprise for us how it was going to happen as it was for the kids in general," said mother and wife Andrea Hurtt.
Standing in front of "Be Our Guest," a Disney World restaurant, Andrea Hurtt asked her two kids, Morgan, 16, and Joey, 11, to make a wish.
"I was just as excited to see him so I ran as fast as my daughter did. So I think I got to him before Joey did," said Andrea Hurtt.
A set of double doors opened up, revealing Army Major Kevin Hurtt, their husband and father, who had been serving in Afghanistan.
"I was seeing the love of my life and my kids and it's real and I can hold them and touch them," said Kevin Hurtt.
Hugs and of course lots of happy tears at the "happiest place on Earth."
This had been Kevin Hurtt's first deployment, and the first time he's been away from his kids.
"It's pretty hard. We love our daddy," said Morgan Hurtt.
And the family's love for their father was seen in the emotional reunion, through the camera flashes and the applause from onlookers.
An emotional and sweet homecoming for the Hurtt family with a fairy tale ending - all at Disney World.
"You just want to hold them and not let go," said Kevin Hurtt.
