The government shutdown may be over, but it delayed a special performance on Thursday.
Cairo Elementary School in Henderson County expected to host a group of Chinese acrobats Thursday morning, but the principal said the acrobats couldn't get visas because of the shutdown.
The PTA sponsored the performance to help students celebrate the end of MAP testing.
The principal said it was difficult to explain to the students why the acrobats couldn't come.
"I don't think, unless their family is directly impacted by it, that they really understand," said Principal Juli Collins. "As I talk to more of my staff members and families, it's really impacted a lot of people in ways we haven't expected."
The good news however, Collins said the performance has been rescheduled for October 28.
