City officials are speaking out on Tuesday night about a report filed by an Evansville City Council financial consultant that they say is inaccurate and possibly damaging to the city's financial future.

There's been a lot of talk about that report and what it could do to the city's image.

It's well known that the last audit on the city's finances from the State Board of Accounts wasn't a good one. City officials say those issues have been resolved, but some fear the report from consultant Dave Garrett, that's now in the hands of state officials, could be a dark cloud over the current audit.

In Garrett's report, he says the city plugged over $7.4 million in order to give the public assurance that the city's banks accounts are reconciled.

City Controller Russ Lloyd Jr. tells 14 News that the accounts are in order and hopes state officials will see that.

If the city gets another bad report, there could be consequences that could affect how the city does business.
