OWENSBORO, KY (WFIE) -

Imagine sitting on death row for more than 20 years for a crime you didn't commit.

That's exactly what happened to one Tennessee man.

Ndume Olatushani shared his story Monday at Kentucky Wesleyan College in Owensboro.

Olatushani spent 20 years on death row after a wrongful conviction for a Memphis murder back in 1985. Part of his message was no matter how bad things look, it's important to keep moving forward.

"I hope that what people can take from my story is that there is hope and the fact is like I said, it's a miracle that I'm actually here," Olatushani said.

Olatushani was released from prison June of last year and is married to the attorney who helped free him.
