Western Kentucky shooting death

A western Kentucky man is charged with shooting and killing his girlfriend in what police say was an incident of domestic violence. Authorities say 49-year-old Dennis Sills was charged with murder after 38-year-old Lisa Roach. Roach was found dead shortly after midnight Saturday in the doorway of a camper in Hopkinsville. Sills was arrested and taken to the Christian County jail.

Shutdown, debt limit deadline

It's a new day but there's no deal and some observers say it might take a stock market reaction to jolt Senate leaders into some agreement to raise the debt limit and tackle the partial government shutdown. Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada and Minority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky spoke by phone yesterday but failed to agree on a solution to the twin crises.

 Sunrise sunset?

High pressure will continue to build into the area bringing mostly sunny skies with high temps in the lower 70s. A cold front will sweep in tonight and early on Tuesday increasing  clouds along with scattered rain and thunderstorms. High temps on Wednesday will only reach the lower to middle 60s.

Bridge link

As progress on I-69 continues, local leaders in Henderson and Evansville are coming together to see a new interstate bridge linking the two states built, and today will be their kick off meeting. Nicole is live with the details.

Owensboro debris pickup

This is the last day the city of Owensboro will pick up tree limbs and yard debris.  Emily Busby has the details from in the Western Kentucky newsroom.

    William Huff terrorized Sierra Vista during the spring and summer of 1967. Despite a sentence of 40 years to life, the Arizona Board of Executive Clemency voted to release him from prison into home arrest. Family members of the victims are concerned for the safety of the community, as are new members of the Clemency Board. CBS 5 Investigates videotaped Huff riding a bike through his Tucson neighborhood. There are no restrictions placed on his proximity to children.

    The Buncombe County man charged with murder in the deaths of a TV chef, her husband, and unborn child pleaded guilty to killing the victims and dismembering their bodies during a hearing Thursday and was sentenced to prison.
