Henderson recognized for its scenic River Walk

The City of Henderson has been recognized for its popular and scenic River Walk.

Henderson Mayor Steve Austin, along with several other city officials, were at the Kentucky League of Cities Conference last Friday in Convington. While they were there, they received the 2013 Enterprise Cities Award for the city's riverfront.

Henderson was one of 17 of the largest cities in the state that submitted an application for the award, and their winning submission beat Louisville's.

Mayor Austin believes the city won the award because of the beautification work done along the river, the usage of the River Walk, and the new tennis courts, as well.

Mayor Austin says its an honor that Henderson is recognized as one of the top cities in the state.

"I hope that it means that we're doing some things right and that we got the best interest of the community at heart as we move forward. We're always working to improve our community and to make it the best it can be," Mayor Austin said.

This isn't the first award Henderson has won top honors for this year. They received the Top Governors Award for the recycling center that serves Henderson, Union, and Webster Counties.

Mayor Austin tells 14 News that its not about winning award though, but about community betterment and progress.
