There is a new head of the Vanderburgh County Democratic Party when the group elected a new chairmain on Saturday.
Former Secretary Rob Faulkner beat out City Council Attorney Scott Danks by nine votes.
It was a packed house at the C.K. Newsome Center as many people in attendance listened to both Faulkner and Danks before casting their votes.
The speeches were short and the decision came less than an hour after it all began.
The newly elected chairman says he plans to focus mainly on party unity and financing: two things the party has had issues with in the past.
"Not everybody's going to love each other but we're all on the same team and to try to get everybody to keep from attacking one another," said Faulkner.
