Owensboro City officials say work crews are hitting their calendar dates and are making progress on storm water work on West Second Street in downtown Owensboro.
Crews closed the intersection of Walnut Street and West Second Street several months ago and are making their way east along West Second Street installing underground pipes that will separate storm water and sewer water.
After several months of work people are now seeing rebuilt intersections, new curbs, street lights, and sidewalks.
"People can go down now. There is enough work on the convention center that you can get a good picture of what it's going to look like," said Wayne Shelton, Director of Public Works. "It's coming together. It's starting to see a little shine on the jewel that's been built downtown."
The corner of St. Ann Street and West Second Street is also a work zone. The city says OMU will be installing signal light poles on Thursday and the intersection will open up Saturday.
The intersection of Allen Street and West Second Street will close next week and work is expected to take 30 days on that intersection.
