DAVIESS CO., IN (WFIE) -

One person was killed and another injured in a single-vehicle crash in Daviess County, Indiana on Sunday morning.

The Daviess County Sheriff's Office says 18-year-old Brandon Wagler, of Loogootee, was driving northbound on County Road 1200E around 9:00 a.m. when he attempted to pass another vehicle and hydroplaned on the wet roadway.

Deputies say the vehicle left the road and struck a tree. Authorities say speed and wet road conditions are contributing factors of the accident.

Authorities say the coroner's office pronounced Wagler dead at the scene due to his injuries.

A passenger in the vehicle, Wagler's younger brother, was transported to Daviess Community Hospital. He has since been treated and released.

Authorities say Wagler was a 2013 graduate and valedictorian of Barr-Reeve High School. 14 News is told he was an athlete for Vikings basketball and baseball teams.
