Muhlenberg County roads expected to close for rail crossing work

MUHLENBERG CO., KY (WFIE) -

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says CSX Railroad plans to close part of KY-81 and KY-181 in northern Muhlenberg County for rail crossing work.

CSX will close KY-81, north of Bremen, after Monday morning's school bus run. It is expected remain closed until Tuesday morning.

Officials say a rail crossing at mile point 6.08 on KY-81 will be upgraded. This is near the KY-175 intersection.

KTC says there will be a marked detour near KY-181 and KY-175.

After rail crossing at KY-81 is complete and traffic is reopened, CSX will close KY-181 nearby.

CSX expects KY-181 to be closed sometime Tuesday morning.

A rail cross at mile point 18.399 on KY-181 will be upgraded. This is near the KY-181 and KY-70 intersection.

KTC says there will be a marked detour near KY-81 and KY-175.

Work on Ky-181 is expected to be completed by Wednesday afternoon.
