GIBSON CO., IN (WFIE) -

A Gibson County murder suspect is now facing new charges.

Austin Blaize is charged with the January shooting death of Terry Monier at his Ft. Branch home, but prosecutors say while he's been in jail, he's been allegedly confessing to the murder to fellow inmates.

Prosecutor Rob Kreig says Adam Staat, an inmate that once shared a dayroom with Blaize, came forward and told his office that Blaize had confessed to the crime.

Kreig says that Staat, who is now on the witness list, had many details about the allegations against Blaize that they believe the information had to have come from Blaize himself.

According to an internal investigation, when Blaize found out Staat was going to testify against him, Blaize asked Joseph Green Jr., an inmate he shares a dayroom with, that he would pay him to beat up Staat.

Indiana State Police listened to recorded phone conversations between Blaize and Green. Both are now charged with conspiracy to obstruct justice, and conspiracy to intimidate a potential witness.

Prosecutors tell 14 News that a second informant has now come forward who also says Blaize confessed to the crime.

Kreig says these are just allegations, but they felt they were credible and they will proceed adding both individuals to a witness list that could include several dozen people.

Blaize will be in court on Friday for a pre-trial hearing and a trial date could be set.
