Fifth graders paint the town pink for Race for the Cure

Posted: Updated:

Downtown Evansville is making the transformation for the Race for the Cure this weekend.

The fifth grade art club from Hebron Elementary is painting the area pink.

Students drew sketches of what they wanted on the store fronts and voted on their favorites.

Students tell us the paintings are meant to inspire runners and walkers and to honor those who have lost their battle to breast cancer.

It took a lot of pink paint to create the little masterpieces.

"We're painting for race for the cure to help with cancer," said Dawson Herring. "We're painting at Piece Of Cake and Evansville Eye Care. Some of them are painting glasses and Race for the Cure signs and other things," he said. "We're painting cakes that are pink."

The race for the cure is this Saturday. You can still get registered by clicking here.
