New road hoping to bring business to Daviess Co.

A new road is being built in Daviess County with hopes to draw in new businesses.

It will be built by private developer, Gateway Land LLC, off Highway 54 between the Owensboro Treatment Center and the former county road department. It will access 200 acres of potential development.

The Daviess County Fiscal Court approved an agreement to maintain the road once it's built.

"A contractor came to ask and asked us if we would participate. We told them certainly Daviess County is interested in working with any business that is going to bring jobs into Daviess County," Judge Executive Al Mattingly said.

As part of the agreement, the developer will have to relocate two existing greenhouses and a few parking spaces.
