The trial for one of three people accused of killing Evansville man, Keith Vaughn, last year is taking place this week.

Hubert Mayhugh, III, also known as JR, faced a jury for the first time. He's charged with murder, armed robbery, burglary and theft.

On Tuesday, more physical evidence presented in the trial, including some photographs of the crime scene, and more witnesses took the stand to testify.

JR'S defense attorney believes the jury will find that James Mayhugh and Megan Mecum, who are also charged with murder in this case, were the ones who actually killed Vaughn.

Some of JR's family was at the trial on Tuesday, but did not want to comment on the situation at this time.

The trial started on Monday. In count Monday, JR sat quietly while both defense and prosecution made their opening statements.

Following that, the state called several witnesses to the stand and started showing some of the physical evidence found at the crime scene, including the bag that reportedly had bloody knives in it.

Deputy Prosecutor Mike Perry told 14 News that while he cannot comment at this time, he expects the trial to continue through on Thursday.
