Sun glare blamed after two pedestrians hit by car in Madisonville

Sun glare may be the cause of a wreck in Madisonville that sent two people to the emergency room.

The Madisonville Police Department says it happened around 7:30 Monday morning on Lightfoot Lane.

Police say a 17-year-old driver was heading east on the road when she suddenly became temporarily blinded by the sun. She was unable to see two pedestrians walking on the edge of the roadway and struck both of them.

Authorities say 51-year-old Shelia Martin and 63-year-old Marsha Brandon, both of Madisonville, were taken by ambulance to the Baptist Health Emergency Room.

No word on their condition.
