Evansville Mayor Lloyd Winnecke is still fighting to sway City Council members to vote in favor of his downtown convention hotel project.
On Friday, cost of the project was reduced by $6-million.
The cost of the hotel has been one of the main issues all along.
That is why Winnecke says he is going back to the drawing board and eliminating what he can. In this case, it's the retail portion of the hotel.
Some of the council members voting 'no' on the project are worried there will not be enough money to bring Indiana University's Medical School to Downtown Evansville.
The Mayor says he disagrees and he's going to continue to fight for the hotel.
"I was elected based on the vision I articulated for the city and part of that vision was for a vibrant downtown which also includes a convention hotel so just because we are a few days from the vote and it looks like its six to three against today doesn't mean I'm quitting," said Winnecke.
The final vote will happen on Monday night at the City Council meeting.
