Convicted murderer Danny Coston sentenced to 53 years in prison

The Illinois States Attorney Denton Aud tells 14 News convicted murderer Danny Coston has been sentenced to 53 years in prison.

After a bench trial in August, Coston was found guilty in the shooting deaths of 17-year-old Jessica Evans and 22-year-old Jacob Wheeler. The bodies of the victims were found in a remote area of the county near the little Wabash River in August, 2012.

In a sentencing hearing on Tuesday, Coston received 45 years for first degree murder, four for second degree murder and four for sexual assault to be served consecutively.

Officials say Coston must serve a minimum of 50 years before being eligible for early release

Cost was turned over to the Illinois Department of Corrections.

Officials tell us every inmate is allowed to comment publicly at their sentencing, but Coston declined on advice of counsel.
