City leaders answer questions on proposed sewer rate increase

Posted: Updated:

An interactive Evansville sewer meeting aired live Monday night on public television station, WNIN.

City leaders answered questions submitted through social media, email or by phone.

Officials said the proposed sewer rate increase and capital projects are driving the need for additional funding.

"These fixes could cost up to $540 million. That's a lot of money. So while you fix things that are broken, you fix things that you can see, a lot of these fixes that we're talking about tonight are comprehensive upgrades to our system," said Jim Garrard with the Evansville Water and Sewer Utility.
