All safe after authorities respond to suspicious cooler at Deaconess Gateway

Posted: Updated:

A hazmat team and authorities were called to Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Warrick County on Saturday morning due to a suspicious item in a lobby area.

Authorities told 14 News that they were alerted to a suspicious Styrofoam medical cooler in the lobby of a business building on the hospital campus.

Hazmat and fire crews were called to check into the situation. Official said medical bags were found in the cooler.

We were told it was called in as suspicious because medical coolers aren't often left in the lobby of one of the business offices.

Our crew on scene said authorities and crews have left the campus and there is no danger.

14 News is continuing to follow these developments, and we will have the latest on air, online at 14News.com and on mobile with the 14 News mobile app.
