The Owensboro Fire Department is going to spend the next 10 to 12 weeks training seven new recruits. It's one of the larger recruiting classes in recent years. Most of the recruits are from the Daviess County area and will train 400 hours learning everything from properly rolling up a hose to rescuing people trapped in a fire. "The 2013 recruit class here just like every recruit class that has been before them will learn how to meet the needs of the public while doing the job safely, " said Battalion Chief David McCrady. With the recruits the Owensboro Fire Department says they will be fully staffed.
