IU adds USI to exhibition schedule

Indiana University head coach Tom Crean has announced that the Hoosiers will host the University of Southern Indiana.  The game will be played at 7 p.m. in Bloomington.

According to the IU men's basketball site, (http://bit.ly/15o8pRO) next season will mark the ninth time IU has opened with exhibition games against non-Division 1 schools, with a record of 14-0.  Nine of these victories have come against teams from the state of Indiana. This will be the first time IU and USI have met.

"I think the more you can involve institutions from the area during the exhibition season, the stronger it makes both programs," said Crean. "Our goal in scheduling our exhibition games is to find programs that will best prepare us for the upcoming season and both these teams will do that."

"This is a great opportunity to play a Big-10 team with such great tradition," said USI Head Coach Rodney Watson.  "We also are grateful for this chance to play in Assembly Hall where so many historic NCAA basketball games have been played."

USI finished 23-8 last season and earned a trip to the NCAA II Midwest Regional semifinals.
