LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Across the nation, Americans marked the 12th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States. Several tributes were held across WAVE Country to honor and remember those who lost their lives.
Among those events was one held by the North Bullitt High School JROTC.
You may have seen some runners carrying a large America flag all over Louisville. Team Red White and Blue hosted the moving tribute where runners could run with the flag through the city and hand it off every 30 minutes.
At the VA Medical Center, Service for Peace and United Auto Workers Ford volunteers spent the day remembering by building a meditation garden near the front entrance to the medical center.
"These guys and girls who come here they have stories to tell and so to just relax and have someone to talk to," said Glenn Hunt, the contractor for the project. "To talk about what they're doing today it's important."
They hope to have it complete by Veterans Day.
