LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A man arrested for driving under the influence did so while three children were in the car with him.
LMPD responded to a call regarding a drunk driver at 3:45 p.m. Tuesday on Crittenden Drive. They found Edgar Worthen, 45, in his car. Police said the car was running and Worthen smelled heavily of alcohol so they asked him to step out to conduct a field sobriety test.
According to an arrest report, Worthen told the officer he drank two, 32 ounce beers 30 minutes ago. The officer witnessed him drop his phone and almost fall over when trying to retrieve it from the ground.
Worthen said he left Shively, drove to the fairgrounds and then went on to where the cop found him.
Police said he had three juveniles in the car with him. The arrest report did not make it clear whether those children where his or not.
According to police, during the field sobriety test Worthen told the officer he was too drunk to continue and didn't want to waste anyone's time. When the officer arrested him and took him to jail the official Breathalyzer test showed his BAC was .189. The legal limit is .08.
Worthen was charged with DUI first, endangering the welfare of a minor, wanton endangerment, driving with an expired license and other offense not specified in the arrest report.
