Tri-State remembers September 11th

Posted: Updated:

The Tri-State will remember 9/11 with several events throughout the day Wednesday.

At the University of Evansville soccer field, they will be having a Patriot's Day to commemorate the attacks.

The Purple Aces will be playing Saint Louis Wednesday night at 7 o'clock.

The game will begin with a moment of silence in remembrance of the attacks.

A color guard will present the colors for the national anthem.

Current and retired military personnel, as well as police, fire and EMT will receive free admission.

You'll also have the option to donate a soccer ball, and receive a $3 discounted ticket.

The soccer balls go to the "Kick for Nick Foundation."

In honor of Private Nicholas Madaras, who was killed in action, but who loved soccer.

His dream was to distribute those soccer balls to children in Iraq.

Just some other things happening around the Tri-State.

Perry Township Fire Department will have a 9/11 memorial service at 7 this morning.

The public is invited to attend at the University Parkway overpass at the Lloyd Expressway.

Town Square Media stations along with Henderson Chevrolet Buick GMC and Pizza Hut will deliver pizzas to local fire fighters in our area.

Also, if you'll be driving under the USI overpass on the west side, you'll most likely see a couple of fire trucks displaying a huge flag.
