Terre Haute museum revs up for new auto exhibit

A new exhibit at the Terre Haute Children's Museum offers visitors the chance to see what it's like to sit behind the wheel of a NASCAR racer.

Human & Co. has donated a stock car replica to the museum. The vehicle has been modified so children can climb inside.

Museum Executive Director Lynn Hughes tells the Tribune-Star (http://bit.ly/15T76WH ) the Clabber Girl stock car is the start of what museum officials hope will be a larger automotive exhibit.

Hughes says the museum is working with other community partners to acquire additional display pieces.

Workers had to remove windows from the second floor of the museum in order to get the car inside.

The museum is closed for cleaning and maintenance and will reopen Sept. 17.
