The Warrick County Sheriff's Office arrested  three men for reportedly trying to steal metal from the Lynnville mine.

Around 6:00 a.m. Tuesday morning, deputies responded to a possible crash in the eastbound lanes of I-64 near the 37 mile marker.

Deputies said they saw 36-year-old Daniel E. Goodman, of Lynnville, attempting to retrieve a boat from one of the stripper pits on the south side of I-64 near the old Peabody Lynnville mine. Authorities said the boat was full of copper wire and had sunk in the water.

Two other men ran from the scene. The sheriff's office arrested 45-year-old Roger L. Might, of Oakland City, a short time later near Lynnville Park.

The third man, 49-year-old Michael F. Benton of Buckskin, turned himself in to the sheriff's office.

All three were arrested on a charge of criminal trespass and theft.

Tecumseh High School in Lynnville was put on lockdown while deputies searched for the men.
