Pence directs flags at half-staff for Patriot Day

Gov. Mike Pence has directed flags at state facilities across Indiana be flown at half-staff Wednesday in honor of Patriot Day.

The governor's office says flags should remain at half-staff until the close of business Wednesday or Thursday morning.

Pence also is asking businesses and residents across Indiana to lower their own flags to half-staff to pay tribute to the people who were injured or lost their lives in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorism attacks.

Several communities across Indiana are planning observances of the attacks. At Indianapolis International Airport, an airport and Transportation Safety Administration honor guard and emergency responders will participate in an observance that includes the display of a section of World Trade Center steel recovered from ground zero.

After 147 years, a historic Henderson church is coming down, piece by piece. Now, there's a lot of treasures left inside that are going to be up for sale. "There's holes in the roof and the whole building has become dilapidated," says Drew Knight, Ole Bigwood, LLC, "and the structure is no longer sound."   The church was built in 1870 and closed in 2010, when it was the Trinity A.M.E.
