Purdue safety Landon Feichter had surgery on his broken right leg Tuesday morning and is expected to miss at least six to eight weeks.

Coach Darrell Hazell said the Boilermakers may seek a medical redshirt for the junior, who started 13 games last season and the first two this year. Anthony Brown is listed as Feichter's replacement.

The loss is another blow for a team that was blown out at Cincinnati in Hazell's debut and struggled to hold off Championship Subdivision foe Indiana State last Saturday.

The bigger problem has been points. Purdue has only two offensive touchdowns this season and only three plays that have gone for more than 20 yards. That's something Hazell hopes to have corrected before this weekend's showdown with No. 21 Notre Dame.
