Notre Dame: 'Figthing Irish' typo to be corrected

Posted: Updated:

Notre Dame says there will be no more "Figthing Irish" at the next home game.

The South Bend Tribune reports the 50-ounce plastic souvenir cups sold at Notre Dame Stadium on Aug. 31 when the Fighting Irish played Temple had a typo, reading instead: "Figthing Irish." The team name was spelled correctly on smaller cups.

University spokesman Dennis Brown wouldn't say who was to blame for the mistake. Printing on the bottom of the cup said they were made by Dynamic Drinkware of Oshkosh, Wis.

Brown wouldn't say how many cups were printed with the mistake. He says the 50--ounce cups sold at the next home on Sept. 21 against Michigan State will be spelled correctly.
