An Ohio County man is in jail on a $50,000 dollar bond after authorities say he drove drunk and ran into a sheriff's deputy's house.
Deputies say the truck, driven by 27-year-old Steven Phelps, hit the house and spun out into the front yard. Two people were home watching television when the truck came into their living room. When deputies arrived they say Phelps and a female passenger were sitting on the front porch of the house.
Deputies say the female passenger had minor injuries and was taken to the Ohio County Hospital.
Deputies arrested Phelps and charged him with five counts of wanton endangerment first degree, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, and criminal mischief.
"It's very fortunate that nobody had any major injuries during this. Most accidents like this involve a major injury and sometimes death," said Deputy J.D. Thompson with Ohio County Sheriff's Office.
The Ohio County Sheriff's Office says the family inside the house is safe and nobody was hurt.
They also say other charges are pending in reference to another house that may have been damaged.
