Evansville Police are called to the same area for two shootings within a few hours.

The first call came out at 8:00 p.m. Sunday in the 500 block of Jefferson.

Officers say there was no one at the scene when they arrived, but a man with a gunshot wound showed up at Deaconess Hospital.

He was later identified as 24-year-old Eugene Maxwell Berry.

Deaconess Hospital officials tell us Berry is in "stable condition."

The second call came in around 10:30.

Police say 36-year-old Timothy Eugene Payne originally said someone shot him in the ankle, but later changed his story at the hospital and said he shot himself.

Police say Payne is the one who drove Berry to Deaconess a few hours before.

There is no active search for a suspect in either shooting at this time.
