BOWLING GREEN, OH (Toledo News Now) -
An assistant Bowling Green State University football coach who was arrested for OVI has been placed on administrative leave.
William T. Durkin, Jr. is the offensive line coach for the falcons. A BGSU spokesperson says Durkin was suspended as a result of the OVI arrest.
Durkin was not on the sidelines for BG's 34 to 7 win over Tulsa on Thursday.
Bowling Green State University released the following statement on the matter: We were immediately made aware of the situation and Coach Durkin has been placed on leave on August 24 while the University investigates the incident. A final decision on Coach Durkin's status at the University will follow that inquiry. I am both shocked and disappointed in the decision-making that led to this incident and we are very thankful that no one was injured. This is inconsistent with what we believe in as an athletic department and my hope is that this will become a teachable moment for everyone to learn from.
