Hot Labor Day Weekend
If you were hoping for a hot last blast of summer, you are going to get it. High pressure over the area will bring sunshine along with high humidity. The heat index will range from 98-103 this afternoon. Dry weather should prevail with scattered thunderstorms on both Saturday and Sunday. A cold front will sweep out some of the heat and humidity on Labor Day. The heat will bust early next week, as highs sink into the lower to middle 80's with lower humidity to boot. Byron will break down the Labor weekend forecast on Sunrise.
Three people were killed in an accident in Carmi, Illinois on Thursday evening. White County Sheriff Dough Maier says that a motorcycle and a large truck were involved in the accident on Epworth Road in Carmi. He confirmed that the driver of the truck and two people on the motorcycle have been killed as a result. No names have been released.
Final Hotel Meeting
The last public meeting to discuss the new downtown Evansville hotel and convention center is in the books. We'll hear what some of those for and against it had to say at the C.K. Newsome Center last night.
We'll let you know what will be closed on Labor Day and have details on how area law enforcement will help keep you safe.
Newburgh Country Store
Nicole is live at the soon-to-be-closing Newburgh Country Store.
Beach and Music
Jess is live to tell us about a big beach party this weekend in Dawson Springs and the Big O Music Fest in Owensboro, which will feature plenty of country stars.
And we'll rundown the slate of high school football games as week two of season kicks off tonight.
So enjoy your holiday weekend, and we'll see you on Sunrise.
