Owensboro Police say a suicidal man has been found after an incident put a school on lockdown Wednesday.

Police say they got a call around 10 a.m. about a man who had made suicidal threats to himself and was possibly armed with a handgun.

They found his vehicle near the Sports Center Parking Lot. The Owensboro Hazardous Device Squad was dispatched to check it out.

While searching for the man, police put Owensboro Catholic High and the ice arena next to the Sports Center on lockdown.

Due to the situation, Owensboro Catholic High School was put on lockdown.

"After about 3 and a half hours of being on scene we were able to reopen roadways that surround this incident and also remove the lock down from the Owensboro Catholic High School," said Officer Michael Hathaway.

Police say they later found the man near the Moreland Park area and was taken to River Valley Health for an evaluation.
