Evansville Police investigated the call of a "possible grenade" outside Reitz High School on 350 Dreier Blvd. Wednesday morning.
Dispatchers received a call around 8 a.m. Wednesday. When they arrived at the scene the call about a "grenade" was changed to possibly fireworks.
Marsha Jackson with EVSC tells 14 News, "We have notified parents at Reitz that there was a building concern near the newer part of the building this morning, and as a precaution, the school decided to move students from that part of the building into the rest of the building. The problem has been thoroughly checked and cleared, and school has resumed as normal. Took less than 30 minutes to investigate," said Jackson. "We called parents to keep them informed, as many students began texting their parents when we moved them to a different location. As soon as it was investigated, we let students know that everything was okay, as well," she said.
Police have yet to comment.
We will bring you more information as soon as we get it.
