Grayville may offer reward for information on arson at old school

Posted: Updated:

Grayville Police Chief Mark Worlds has asked the City Council to approve a $500 reward for information leading to an arrest of one or more suspects in the arson at the old high school.

Worlds says they are following up on several leads, but have no suspects at this time.

They are conducting interviews this week.

One witness says they saw two boys and three girls, all teenagers, leaving the scene shortly before the fire.

Another eyewitness reports seeing two teenage boys.

Worlds says the punishment for the crime is dependent upon the age. If they are juveniles, it will be up to State Attorney Denton Aud to determine punishment.

The City Council will vote on the reward money at their next meeting on September 9.
