A new gymnasium is coming to a west side EVSC school.
The EVSC School Board accepted the low bid of $2.8 million from Arc Construction to build a new gymnasium at Perry Heights Middle School.
Officials say the new gym will have seating for 644, as well as locker rooms with 21 double-tiered lockers.
An elevator to service the gym and the first floor, a new PA system for the gym, and new intercom system for the entire school are also a part of the project.
Officials say additional parking spaces in the north and south lots are also planned.
The EVSC says Perry Heights is currently the only middle school in the school system with one gymnasium. The current gym, for sporting events, can seat only slightly more than 200 with the use of portable bleachers and chairs.
